As spring settles into the Pacific Northwest, Bainbridge Island comes alive with a renewed sense of energy—longer days, blooming landscapes, and a calendar filled with events that reflect the character of this vibrant community. Late April, in particular, offers a compelling snapshot of what makes the island so special: a seamless blend of arts, environmental stewardship, and meaningful connection. Whether you’re a longtime resident or planning a visit, this is the kind of weekend that invites you to slow down, step বাইরে, and fully engage with the place and the people around you.
What stands out about Bainbridge Island’s event culture is its intentionality. Gatherings here are rarely just about entertainment; they’re thoughtfully designed experiences that bring together creativity, education, and a shared sense of purpose. This year’s lineup of events from April 24 through April 26 captures that spirit beautifully, offering opportunities to reflect, learn, and celebrate in equal measure.
Music lovers can begin the weekend with an evocative choral performance that explores the universal themes of love, loss, and human connection. Through carefully selected repertoire and collaborations that bridge generations, the concert promises not only artistic excellence but also a reminder of how music can unite voices and experiences in powerful ways. It’s an intimate, emotionally resonant way to gather—one that speaks to the island’s deep appreciation for the arts.
The following day, attention turns outward to the natural world with a dynamic Earth Day celebration set in one of Bainbridge Island’s most cherished landscapes. Here, science and stewardship meet hands-on discovery, inviting participants to engage directly with the ecosystems that define the region. From citizen science initiatives to plant sales and creative activities, the day offers a rich mix of learning and leisure. It’s an expression of the island’s longstanding commitment to environmental responsibility—an ethos that feels not only relevant, but essential.
Rounding out the weekend is an event that brings sustainability into an entirely different realm: fashion. The ReFashion Show challenges conventional ideas about clothing and consumption, transforming reclaimed materials into innovative, wearable designs. It’s both playful and provocative, demonstrating how creativity can reshape our understanding of everyday objects. More than a runway show, it’s a celebration of resourcefulness and imagination—qualities that are deeply woven into the fabric of the Bainbridge community.
Taken together, these events highlight a distinctive rhythm of life on Bainbridge Island, where art, nature, and sustainability are not separate pursuits but interconnected threads. Each gathering offers its own perspective, yet all share a common goal: to inspire connection—between people, with the environment, and within ourselves.
In the following sections, we’ll take a closer look at each of these events and what makes them worth experiencing. Whether you’re drawn by music, motivated by environmental action, or intrigued by creative reinvention, there’s something here that invites you to be part of the moment.Featured Events:
Amabile Choir Spring 2026 Concert
On Bainbridge Island this April, music lovers have a special opportunity to experience a performance that promises both emotional depth and community connection. The Amabile Choir’s upcoming concert, Songs of Love, Loss & Connection, is more than just an evening of choral music—it’s a thoughtfully curated exploration of the human experience through song.
Taking place at Rolling Bay Presbyterian Church, the concert unfolds across two days, with performances on April 24 and 25 at 7:00 PM, as well as a special matinee on April 25 at 3:00 PM. Each performance offers its own unique flavor, thanks to collaborations with local youth ensembles that add fresh voices and perspectives to the program.
The Saturday afternoon performance will feature the Sakai Choir Club, directed by Katie Gibbs. Their inclusion brings an intergenerational dimension to the concert, highlighting the importance of mentorship and the passing of musical traditions from one generation to the next. Younger singers often bring a certain clarity and sincerity to choral works, and their participation is likely to lend a bright, uplifting tone to the program’s more reflective themes.
For the evening concerts, Amabile Choir will be joined by members of Kids in Concert (KIC), under the direction of Laura Milleson. Known for nurturing young talent in the Bainbridge community, KIC adds a dynamic and heartfelt layer to the performance. The collaboration underscores the concert’s central theme of connection—not just between individuals, but across age groups and shared artistic expression.
The repertoire itself is designed to resonate on a deeply personal level. As the title suggests, the program navigates themes of love, loss, and the ties that bind us together. Audiences can expect a blend of contemporary and classical choral works, carefully selected to evoke reflection, comfort, and perhaps even a sense of healing. Whether through soaring harmonies or intimate, quiet moments, the music invites listeners to engage with their own experiences and emotions.
Set against the warm, intimate acoustics of Rolling Bay Presbyterian Church, this concert is poised to be both moving and memorable. It’s an ideal outing for anyone seeking a meaningful cultural experience on Bainbridge Island—one that celebrates not only musical artistry but also the enduring power of community.

Earth Day on Bainbridge Island takes on a vibrant, immersive form this year at Bloedel Reserve, where nature, science, and community come together for a day of exploration and stewardship. Set within one of the Pacific Northwest’s most serene and thoughtfully designed landscapes, Earth Day at Bloedel Reserve offers a full schedule of activities that invite visitors of all ages to engage more deeply with the natural world.
Running throughout the day, the event blends hands-on learning with leisurely outdoor enjoyment. One of the highlights is the City Nature Challenge for Kitsap County, taking place from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Part of a global initiative, this activity encourages participants to observe and document local biodiversity—from mosses and fungi to birds and amphibians—using the iNaturalist platform. From 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, the Reserve will host a lively plant sale featuring selections from Bloedel Reserve as well as respected regional growers like Chimacum Woods Nursery, Salish Trees Nursery, and Windcliff Plants. Whether you’re an experienced gardener or simply looking to bring a bit of the Pacific Northwest into your home, the sale offers a rich variety of plants suited to local conditions. Members and volunteers can also take advantage of complimentary saplings, available while supplies last.
Literary and artistic elements round out the day’s offerings. From 1:00 to 2:00 PM, visitors can attend a reading from Birdbrains: A Lyrical Guide to Washington State Birds, presented by several contributing authors in the Residence. This intimate gathering (with limited capacity) provides a thoughtful pause in the day—an opportunity to reflect on the region’s avian life through a creative lens.
For those who prefer a more tactile experience, the Reserve offers a range of nature-inspired activities. Guests can create their own biosphere in a jar, examine moss and lichen under a microscope, or simply enjoy lawn games set against the Reserve’s stunning grounds. Food vendors, including Groovy Grinds, One Two Kai, and the Corrigan Sisters, will be on-site with coffee, pizza, and crepes, making it easy to linger and savor the atmosphere.
While the guided birding walk later in the afternoon has already sold out, the day remains rich with opportunities to connect—with nature, with community, and with the spirit of Earth Day itself. ReFashion Show
Creativity, sustainability, and community spirit take center stage at this year’s ReFashion Show, a signature Bainbridge Island event celebrating its 10th anniversary on April 26, 2026. Held at the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art, this lively evening invites attendees to rethink what fashion can be—transforming discarded materials into striking, wearable art.
Presented by ReFashion Bainbridge, a program of Sustainable Bainbridge led by Naomi Spinak, the event has grown steadily since its founding in 2016. Over the past decade, it has become both a showcase and a statement: style and environmental responsibility are not mutually exclusive, but deeply interconnected. The ReFashion Show highlights how reuse and repurposing can inspire innovation, reduce waste, and spark meaningful conversations about consumption.
The evening begins at 5:30 PM with a cocktail hour, offering guests a chance to mingle, explore the venue, and take in the creative energy that defines the event. This relaxed prelude sets the tone for what follows—a runway show unlike any other. At 6:30 PM, the main event kicks off, featuring designs crafted from reclaimed, recycled, and reimagined materials. Expect garments that surprise and delight, from elegantly reconstructed textiles to bold, avant-garde pieces that challenge conventional ideas of fashion.
What makes the ReFashion Show particularly compelling is its accessibility. Designers range from seasoned artists to enthusiastic newcomers, all united by a shared commitment to sustainability and creative expression. The result is a diverse and inspiring collection of looks that reflect both personal vision and collective purpose. Each piece tells a story—not just of design, but of transformation.
Beyond the runway, the event serves as an educational platform, encouraging attendees to consider the environmental impact of the fashion industry. Fast fashion and textile waste are global concerns, but the ReFashion Show brings the conversation home, demonstrating how local action and creativity can make a tangible difference.
Set within the modern, art-filled spaces of the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art, the evening feels both celebratory and thought-provoking. Whether you’re a fashion enthusiast, an environmental advocate, or simply curious, the ReFashion Show offers a fresh perspective on what it means to dress with intention.
