Return to Full Calendar

Bainbridge Island has a way of making even ordinary weekdays feel like an opportunity to gather. The island’s event calendar rarely relies on large productions or major headliners. Instead, the rhythm of community life is built around smaller moments—live music in intimate venues, creative workshops, and casual evenings where people linger a little longer than they planned.

This week offers a good example of that pattern. Across just a few days, three very different events highlight the kinds of experiences that quietly shape the island’s cultural life: a midweek live performance from an accomplished regional musician, a relaxed patio evening with local music and wine, and a hands-on art workshop that turns a winery into a creative studio for the night.

What connects these events is less the activity itself and more the atmosphere they create. Bainbridge Island’s arts and social scene thrives on settings where audiences and participants are close to the action. A musician performing in a small room where you can hear every note. A patio gathering where the music is part of the environment rather than the center of attention. A craft workshop where people learn something new while sharing a table with friends and neighbors.

For many residents, these kinds of gatherings are part of the weekly rhythm of living on the island. They are easy to attend, often informal, and rarely require much planning beyond deciding to show up. At the same time, they reflect a deeper layer of the community—one where local artists, musicians, and small businesses collaborate to create spaces where people can connect.

Live music, in particular, plays a consistent role in that ecosystem. Bainbridge and the surrounding Kitsap Peninsula have a strong network of working musicians who move between venues, bands, and creative projects. Smaller performances allow audiences to experience that talent up close while giving artists a place to share their work outside of larger urban stages.

Creative events are another growing part of the island’s social landscape. Workshops that blend art-making with food, wine, or conversation have become a popular way for people to spend an evening. They offer something interactive and collaborative, often drawing people who might not normally think of themselves as artists but enjoy the process of making something by hand.

Of course, not every event needs to be structured around a performance or project. Some gatherings are simply about creating a place to sit outside, listen to music, enjoy good food, and spend time with others. Those low-key moments often become the most memorable ones.

The three events happening this week reflect that range. Each offers a different way to spend an evening on Bainbridge Island—listening, creating, or simply relaxing with good company. Taken together, they provide a small snapshot of what makes the island’s cultural life feel both active and approachable.

Here’s a look at three events worth adding to your calendar this week.

Wine Down Wednesdays

On Bainbridge Island, some of the most enjoyable midweek gatherings are the simple ones: a patio, a glass of wine, and live music playing in the background as the evening light fades. Every Wednesday, one local spot on Coppertop Loop hosts exactly that kind of low-key midweek tradition.

The format is straightforward. From 6–8pm, local musicians perform live on the back patio while guests can settle in with wine and small bites. The focus is less on a formal concert and more on creating a relaxed setting where music becomes part of the atmosphere of the evening. For people who live or work on the island, it’s the kind of event that makes an ordinary Wednesday feel a little more social.

The music rotates between different local performers, which means the sound can vary from week to week. Some evenings lean acoustic or folk-influenced, while others may move toward jazz, blues, or singer-songwriter sets. Bainbridge and the surrounding Kitsap Peninsula have a deep bench of working musicians, and casual venues like this often serve as a place where those artists can play smaller shows and experiment with new material.

Alongside the music, the venue offers discounts on premium red wines and selected charcuterie, making it easy to settle in for the full two hours if you’d like. The charcuterie options typically include simple combinations of cured meats, cheeses, and accompaniments—food that pairs naturally with wine without turning the evening into a formal dinner.

For something more substantial, the Tacos El Barbon food truck is set up on site. Food trucks have become a regular part of the island’s casual dining landscape, and this one brings a menu centered on classic street-style tacos and other Mexican staples. The combination of wine, live music, and tacos might not sound traditional, but it works surprisingly well in a relaxed outdoor setting.

Another small but thoughtful detail: outside food from local businesses is allowed inside. That flexibility makes it easy to grab takeout from elsewhere in the Coppertop business area and still join the gathering.

While the event is informal, reservations are encouraged, particularly as the patio fills up quickly on warmer evenings.

For anyone looking to break up the week with something social but unpretentious, Wednesday patio music offers a simple formula that works: local musicians, good wine, and a place to linger for a couple of hours before heading home. It’s an easy way to tap into Bainbridge Island’s community atmosphere without needing to plan much in advance.

Sounds of Winter: Tracie Marsh Band

Midweek music on Bainbridge Island often strikes a nice balance: intimate, high-quality performances in settings where the audience is close enough to truly hear the musicians. The Tracie Marsh Band performance on March 12 is likely to be one of those evenings—an opportunity to hear an accomplished local musician whose career spans classical training, international touring, and a wide range of contemporary styles.

Tracie Marsh is a bassist and vocalist with a degree in bass performance from Washington State University, a background that gives her playing a strong technical foundation. Early in her career she held the principal bass chair with the New Hampshire Philharmonic, a role that requires both precision and musical leadership. While classical training often forms the backbone of a musician’s education, Marsh’s career quickly moved into broader territory.

She has performed internationally and spent several years playing major production shows on cruise ships—an environment that demands versatility. Cruise ship musicians often perform across multiple genres in a single week, from pop and jazz to theater scores and orchestral arrangements. That kind of range tends to shape musicians who are adaptable, quick-thinking, and comfortable moving between styles.

Since settling in Poulsbo, Marsh has become a familiar name in the regional music community. She is both a performer and a collaborator, regularly appearing with different groups while also leading her own project. Her work often blends pop, soul, and jazz, creating a sound that draws from each tradition without being limited to any one of them.

For local audiences, one of the pleasures of seeing musicians like Marsh perform live is the sense of connection to the broader Pacific Northwest music ecosystem. Many artists on Bainbridge Island and across Kitsap County move fluidly between bands, studio work, and independent projects. Marsh’s career reflects that collaborative spirit—she composes, records, and performs with a range of musicians, contributing to the region’s quietly vibrant live music scene.

A performance by the Tracie Marsh Band is likely to showcase that musical range. Expect strong rhythm-section playing, thoughtful arrangements, and a mix of original material and genre-influenced compositions. Her background as both bassist and vocalist also shapes the dynamic of the group, with the low end often driving the groove while melodies move easily between instruments and voice.

For those looking for something to do on a Wednesday evening, this is the kind of event that highlights what makes the island’s arts scene special: talented musicians, close-up performances, and a chance to hear artists whose careers stretch well beyond the local stage.

It’s a relaxed but rewarding way to spend a midweek night on Bainbridge.

Crushed Glass Art

Not every evening at a winery has to revolve around tasting notes and vintages. On Friday, March 13, Eleven Winery will host a hands-on creative workshop that blends art-making with the relaxed atmosphere the winery is known for.

The Crushed Glass Art Workshop offers a two-hour session where participants create a decorative glass piece using brightly colored crushed glass arranged within a wooden frame. The activity sits somewhere between craft night and studio class: structured enough to guide beginners, but flexible enough for people to experiment with their own designs.

Participants begin by choosing a project size and a laser-cut wood frame design when purchasing their ticket. Once the workshop begins, the creative part starts with selecting from a wide palette of hand-dyed crushed glass, available in a range of colors and textures. The glass is arranged within the frame to create patterns, landscapes, abstract designs, or other imagery depending on the chosen template.

One of the distinctive elements of crushed glass art is its reflective quality. Even small pieces of colored glass catch and scatter light, creating a textured surface that changes depending on the angle and lighting. To preserve the design, the finished piece is sealed with a clear, fume-free solution that fixes the glass in place and adds a glossy finish.

The workshop includes all materials needed for the project: the frame, crushed glass, tools, and a clear sealant. Participants also receive a window suction cup for hanging the finished piece, which often works especially well in natural light where the glass can catch the sun.

Two project sizes are available. The 6-inch “Mini” project begins at $45 and is designed as a smaller, gift-sized piece. A 12-inch standard frame is available for $60 and offers more space for detailed designs. Each ticket covers one project and includes step-by-step guidance from facilitators who help participants assemble and seal their work.

As with most events at Eleven Winery, the creative activity is paired with the option to enjoy wine during the evening. Wine and small bites are available for purchase in the tasting room, making it easy to settle in with a glass while working on your piece.

For people who enjoy craft workshops but prefer a relaxed, social environment, events like this offer a nice middle ground—part art class, part casual night out. By the end of the evening, participants leave not only with a handmade piece of art but also with a small reminder of a creative night spent on Bainbridge Island.
