Did you know Bainbridge Island boasts seven boutique wineries? Wines are produced using grapes both grown here on Bainbridge Island and sourced from Eastern Washington. Each winery (Amelia Wynn Winery, Bainbridge Vineyards, Eagle Harbor Wine Co, Eleven Winery, Fletcher Bay Winery, Perennial Vintners and Rolling Bay Winery) has its own style and offers unique tasting experiences, both in Downtown Bainbridge and at Winery locations scattered around the island. Bainbridge Island is part of the Puget Sound AVA (American Viticulture Area) and provides a unique cool growing climate for grapes such as: Muller Thurgau; Siegerrebe; and Melon de Bourgogne. These grape varieties can be found at Bainbridge Vineyards and Perennial Vintners. Other wineries on the island source their grapes from established vineyards in warmer Eastern Washington State and produce more familiar wines like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Pinot Grigio. This week’s events focus on Wine. 1. Enjoy Fletcher Bay Winery’s regular Wine Down Wednesday and listen to live music and sample great wines at their Copper Top location. 2. Taste Washington is the nation's largest single-region wine and food festival and our Bainbridge Island wineries will be there, pouring their wines at the Lumen Field. 3. HeyDay Farms’s regular WineMaker Dinner series is hosted by COR Cellars this weekend; here you can savor a hand-picked flight of wines in HeyDay's festive barn and then move into the farmhouse to enjoy a 4-course meal specially created by their culinary team.
