August 2025 Top 3

The mornings are just starting to show a bit of crispness in the air and I’m giddy with the love of back to school season. I still have kids at home, so this summer sprint is an exciting time of dreaming of new opportunities. Days are full of gratitude for the slower days of summer while knowing that there is something exciting right around the corner.

For this month, I have some tools that are part of my daily arsenal to share.

Aloha Bags

I use these bags for my purse organizer, make up bag, pencil pouch, beach tote, technology etc. They are lightweight, water resistant, come in a bazillion colors or patterns and high quality. I have a decent assortment myself and am using one almost every day in some fashion or another.

Sharpie S-Gel

Despite having horrific handwriting, I’m a huge pen snob. My first job after college was buying writing instruments for Target and I think it’s imprinted on me. Pens bring ideas, creativity and joy. I have been known to swap out a bic for a preferred pen. (snob) These Sharpie S-Gel’s have been my go-to for the last couple years. They are a ‘gel-roller’ for those of you who want to know the ‘biz-description.’ They are smooth without smearing and the perfect pressure for a soft writer.

The Oak Tree

I underlined this from Eat Pray over twenty years ago and still think of it often. I can’t think of a better way to express the optimism and joy that comes with the season of creation. I’ve shared it with my kids and remind them (and myself) that I’m pulling into my own creation.

“My thoughts turn to something I read once, something the Zen Buddhists believe. They say that an oak tree is brought into creation by two forces at the same time. Obviously, there is the acorn from which it all begins, the seed which holds all the promise and potential, which grows into a tree.

Everybody can see that. But only a few can recognize that there is another force operating here as well-the future tree itself, which wants so badly to exist that it pulls the acorn into being, drawing the seedling forth with longing out of the void, guiding the evolution from nothingness to maturity.

In this respect, say the Zens, it is the oak tree that creates the very acorn from which it was born.”

-Elizabeth Gilbert, Eat Pray Love

I hope you hop out and get one of those PSL’s, put on the sweater at the first opportunity and embrace the creativity that comes with fall. Cheers-Dana
