Eugenie Jones Concert

On February 28, 2025, the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art (BIMA) will host an evening of exceptional jazz featuring award-winning vocalist and songwriter Eugenie Jones. There will be two performances, one from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM and another from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM, held at the BIMA Auditorium in Bainbridge Island, Washington.

Attendees can expect a captivating blend of original soulful jazz compositions, innovative arrangements of classic jazz standards, and timeless soul favorites. Eugenie Jones, a Seattle-based artist, has gained international recognition for her emotive vocal style and insightful songwriting. Her journey into jazz began in 2010 following the passing of her mother, which led her to explore her musical talents. Since then, she has released several acclaimed albums, including Black Lace Blue Tears (2013), Come Out Swingin’ (2015), Players (2022), and The Originals (2023). Her latest album, Eugenie, released in January 2025, continues to showcase her evolution as an artist. Throughout her career, she has collaborated with esteemed musicians like Reggie Workman, Bernard Purdie, Julian Priester, and Bobby Sanabria. In recognition of her contributions to jazz, Jones received the prestigious Jazz Hero Award from the Jazz Journalists Association in 2023.

For this special concert, Jones will be joined by a talented ensemble, including Nick Allison on piano, Bob Antolin on guitar and saxophone, Jonathan Green on bass, and Ronnie Bishop on drums. This seasoned quartet promises to deliver a compelling and harmonious performance, enhancing Jones’s dynamic and expressive vocals. Critics have widely praised Jones’s work, with The NYC Jazz Record describing her artistry as “a winner” and NEA Jazz Master Reggie Workman calling her “an extraordinary singer and songwriter with an exceptional body of work.”

Tickets for this concert are available through the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art’s official website, and given the limited seating and Jones’s widespread popularity, early purchase is highly recommended. Fix-it Fair: Community Repair Event

On March 1, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, the Bainbridge Artisan Resource Network (BARN) will host a Fix-it Fair: Community Repair Event, a free community gathering aimed at promoting sustainability, waste reduction, and skill-sharing. This event connects skilled volunteer fixers with residents looking to repair household items, helping to extend the life of belongings while reducing unnecessary waste.

Participants are invited to bring up to two items, such as small appliances, clothing, lamps, vacuums, jewelry, or small electronics, for assessment and possible repair. The experienced fixers will attempt to restore these items and share their knowledge, offering attendees an opportunity to learn valuable repair skills. Fix-it consultations will be conducted on a first-come, first-served basis, and all participants must check in at the welcome table and remain present during repairs. While volunteers will make every effort to fix items, successful repairs are not guaranteed. Each participant may have one item repaired at a time and, if time allows, can rejoin the line for a second item.

This event is a collaborative initiative between the Kitsap County Solid Waste Division, Sustainable Bainbridge, and BARN, with support from the Rotary Club of Bainbridge Island. In addition to participants, the Fix-it Fair also welcomes volunteers who have repair skills or wish to assist with event operations. Those interested in contributing can register as a volunteer and become part of Kitsap County’s team of fixers or event helpers.

The Fix-it Fair is an excellent opportunity to engage with the community, reduce waste, and cultivate a culture of repair and sustainability. Attendees are encouraged to bring a friend and spread the word to help build a more resilient and environmentally conscious community.
