February 2025 Top 3
Love is in the air. February always has a little bit more pep and frankly after the snow false alarm from last week, it’s nice to be bathing in blue skies, even it its a little frigid out. Good opportunity to snuggle next to the fire with a loved one.
I’ll admit that that this one came to me through an Instagram ad and I took a chance. As a woman of a certain age, and with a marriage of a certain age, there are times when ideas run dry. I thought this would be fun way to come up with ideas for hanging out. Now, to be honest, some of these skew to a younger demographic or one with better city access and readily available babysitting….but it’s still pretty fun.
The Adventure Challenge Couples Edition is a scratch-off book designed to spark spontaneity and creativity in your partnership. The book has 50 unique scratch-off date ideas, this book helps couples create memories together. It’s a little bit of a lotto ticket scratch off with a a challenge. Dates range in budget from no cost to about $100 and can be easily done in a night with little to no planning.
Little Talks is a table top conversation starter. Anyone who has met my people will note that my clan is about as diverse in interests as possible. I jokingly refer to them as the Breakfast Club— there is a nerd, a basket case, a jock, a princess etc and sometimes forced fun is one of the best way to get them going. (This is especially true now that we are teenagers.) This is a beautiful way kickstart a conversation— it’s not too campy or forced, and has a mix of light topics and more thoughtful, introspective topics. We have the family deck but I noted that there are options for little kids, older kids and couples. It’s pretty fun.
Go Fug Yourself
Awards Season is here! I have a (not so) quiet guilty love for the Oscars. I’m into prestige movies, documentaries and all that— but, I’m also into the camp and the pseudo drama of the awards season itself as it wraps up into the Oscars. I’ve been following the website Go Fug Yourself for YEARS. Go Fug Yourself is a website founded in 2004 by Heather Cocks and Jessica Morgan that chronicles celebrity fashion and pop culture. It’s a little bit like the US Weekly, “Who Wore it Best” with the cattiness to answer why…. It’s a little crass, but body positive and good, snarky fun. Archives span 22k posts… so have at it!
