Bainbridge Island is always buzzing with things to do, and this week is no exception. Whether you’re into dancing, art, or celebrating the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr., there are some fantastic events lined up that offer a little something for everyone. Whether you’ve lived here for years or are just stopping by, these gatherings are a great way to connect with the community, learn something new, and have a little fun along the way.
First up is Salsa Dance Lessons with Malo & Rose at Eleven Winery on Thursday evening. If you’ve been wanting to spice up your week, this is the perfect chance to hit the dance floor. The night starts with an hour of instruction from Rose, who makes sure beginners feel right at home while also giving experienced dancers something new to work on. Once you’ve got the steps down, Malo takes over as DJ, keeping the energy high with salsa beats that will have you moving all night. Add in a glass (or two) of wine from Eleven Winery, and you’ve got an evening of fun that’s hard to beat.
On Saturday, things take a reflective turn with the Artist Panel: Radiant Reflections at the BIMA Auditorium. This panel is part of an art exhibit celebrating the beauty of the African Diaspora, and it’s a great opportunity to hear from the artists themselves. Monae Brown, Charles Conner, Charde Brown, and James Wilson will discuss the themes behind their work, their creative processes, and how they use art to inspire and educate. Whether you’re an art enthusiast or just curious about the exhibit’s themes, this event offers a meaningful and inspiring experience.
Finally, wrap up your weekend by honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with the MLK Celebration: With Liberty & Justice, For Whom? on Sunday, also at the BIMA Auditorium. This youth-led event features a lineup of activities, including a visual arts workshop, a spoken word session, and an African dance performance. Each part of the event reflects on Dr. King’s message while amplifying the voices of young leaders and artists in our community. It’s an afternoon full of creativity, energy, and the kind of conversations that stick with you long after the event ends.
No matter which event you attend (or if you go to all three!), this week’s lineup on Bainbridge Island offers a great mix of entertainment, culture, and inspiration. So grab your tickets, gather your friends, and make some plans—you won’t want to miss out!
