There’s something undeniably special about summer on Bainbridge Island. The air is warmer, the days are longer, and the community comes alive with creativity, celebration, and connection. Whether you’re a long-time local or a first-time visitor, this week offers a trio of can’t-miss events that showcase the heart and soul of the island—each one unique, inspiring, and perfectly in tune with the season.

From colorful upcycled fashion to high-energy art galas and the soulful strum of live acoustic music, Bainbridge is buzzing with opportunities to gather, celebrate, and support local culture. This week’s lineup includes a joyful Pride-themed DIY workshop at the Bainbridge Public Library, an unforgettable two-night fundraising gala at the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art, and a Sunday afternoon serenade at a local winery. Each event captures a different facet of island life—creative, generous, and rooted in community.

First up is Rainbow Refashion, a Pride Upcycling Workshop on Thursday evening that invites participants of all ages to get crafty and express themselves in bold, colorful ways. Hosted at the Bainbridge Public Library, this event blends sustainability and celebration, offering a chance to turn well-loved clothing into wearable art—sequins, ribbons, and rainbow flair included. It’s a festive and welcoming way to kick off Pride Month while embracing individuality and eco-consciousness.

Then, prepare for a dazzling weekend as BIMA’s Make It POP! Gala takes over Friday and Saturday with two nights of art, entertainment, and inspiration. Whether you’re mingling at Friday’s Artful Party or dressed to the nines for Saturday’s formal Gala, you’ll be immersed in a world of 1960s Pop Art chic, complete with music, one-of-a-kind auction items, and culinary delights. It’s more than a party—it’s a celebration of the power of art and a vital fundraiser supporting the museum’s exhibitions and programs.

Finally, wind down on Sunday with live music from JT Underwood, a seasoned singer-songwriter from Olympia whose acoustic set offers the perfect blend of wit, warmth, and storytelling. Set at one of Bainbridge’s charming wineries, this free afternoon concert invites you to sip, relax, and savor the final hours of your weekend surrounded by music and community.

No matter your interests—crafting, fine art, social connection, or simply enjoying a good tune with a glass of wine—this week on Bainbridge Island offers something to look forward to. So mark your calendar, gather your friends and neighbors, and step into the vibrant rhythm of summer. You won’t want to miss a moment.Featured Events:

Rainbow Refashion: A Pride Upcycling Workshop

Looking for a creative, joyful way to celebrate Pride this week? Head over to the Bainbridge Public Library on Thursday, June 12, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM for Rainbow Refashion: A Pride Upcycling Workshop—a hands-on, heartwarming event that blends sustainability, self-expression, and celebration.

This lively workshop invites people of all ages to reimagine their wardrobe while embracing the colors and spirit of Pride. Whether you're looking to add a splash of sparkle to an old jacket, personalize a tee with colorful patches, or create your very own Pride-themed bracelet and button, this event has something for everyone. And don’t worry about supplies—everything you’ll need, from ribbons and sequins to patches and more, will be provided on-site.

What makes Rainbow Refashion especially meaningful is its dual mission: promoting eco-conscious creativity while honoring the LGBTQ+ community. By upcycling rather than buying new, you’re not only refreshing your look—you’re making a statement about care, community, and individuality. It’s a space where fashion meets values, and where everyone is welcome to show up exactly as they are.

Whether you’re a seasoned DIY-er or someone who’s never picked up a sewing needle, you’ll feel right at home. The atmosphere is friendly and inclusive, and the library team is on hand to guide you as you create. Bring your favorite items of clothing—maybe that denim jacket you’ve been meaning to personalize, or a plain canvas tote—and leave with something uniquely you, ready for Pride festivities or simply to wear with pride all year long.

The Bainbridge Public Library is located at 1270 Madison Ave. N, a welcoming and familiar hub for community connection and creativity. There’s no need to register in advance—just bring your imagination, a few clothing items to personalize if you'd like, and an open heart.

Rainbow Refashion is more than just a craft night. It’s an invitation to celebrate identity, community, and sustainability in a space that supports and uplifts. So gather your friends, bring the kids, or come solo and make new connections—it’s bound to be an inspiring evening.

BIMA Bash! 2025

If you’re looking to add a dose of glamour, generosity, and 1960s flair to your weekend, the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art (BIMA) has just the ticket. This June 13 and 14, BIMA presents its most dazzling fundraiser of the year: Make It POP!—a two-night celebration bursting with color, creativity, and community spirit.

Honorary Co-Chairs David & George Lewis welcome guests to a weekend that’s equal parts high-style and heartfelt, all in support of BIMA’s dynamic exhibitions and educational programming. With its Pop Art inspiration, this year's Bash! promises bold fashion, vibrant artwork, and unforgettable experiences.

Friday night kicks off with The Artful Party, a cocktail soirée packed with energy and over 120 silent auction items—from stunning paintings and photography to sculpture, jewelry, and ceramics. Guests will sip signature champagne cocktails and mocktail spritzers, enjoy hearty hors d’oeuvres catered by Fig & Spice, and groove to the retro beats of DJ Vodka Twist, spinning vinyl classics straight from the swingin’ '60s. Roving performers and a “Wall of Wonder” filled with mysterious prizes make the night even more playful. It’s a fantastic way to connect with fellow art lovers while supporting a beloved local institution.

Saturday’s Gala Night raises the bar—and the paddle. Dressed in your Pop Art best, enjoy a lively reception with passed appetizers and creative cocktails, followed by a decadent three-course dinner from Shooby Doo and a thoughtfully curated wine pairing. The Silent Auction wraps up at 6:15 PM, just in time for the excitement of the Live Auction, where guests will bid on exclusive art, travel, and culinary experiences. The evening crescendos with music, celebration, and a collective show of support during the Raise the Paddle segment—a powerful moment of community generosity.

Even better? If you’re attending the Saturday Gala, your ticket includes complimentary admission to Friday’s Artful Party—just be sure to RSVP.

With colorful cocktails, irresistible art, and two nights of unforgettable fun, Make It POP! is the ultimate celebration of Bainbridge Island’s creative spirit. Whether you come for the party, the art, or the cause, you’ll leave inspired.

Live music at the Winery: JT Underwood

Wrap up your weekend on the perfect note with live music at the winery, featuring singer-songwriter JT Underwood on Sunday, June 15, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Set against the scenic backdrop of Bainbridge Island’s beautiful winery grounds, this laid-back afternoon promises a blend of soulful tunes, good company, and great wine.

Hailing from Olympia, Washington, JT Underwood is no stranger to the road—or to the stories that come with it. Having traveled and performed across the United States, his music carries the richness of lived experience. With a voice that can be both sharply witty and achingly tender, Underwood’s songs are the kind that stay with you. Whether he’s delivering clever lyricism or opening up with honest reflection, his acoustic style feels intimate, familiar, and deeply human.

Fans of Americana, folk, and singer-songwriter genres will find much to love in Underwood’s performance. His sound is stripped-down in the best way—genuine, textured, and focused on storytelling. There’s no pretense here, just one artist sharing his craft in a setting that invites you to slow down and truly listen.

The winery itself offers an idyllic setting for an afternoon escape. Sip a glass of your favorite local vintage, enjoy a picnic on the lawn, or settle in at a table with friends and soak up the atmosphere. Whether you’re discovering JT Underwood for the first time or you’ve been following his musical journey, this is a wonderful opportunity to experience live music in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

This event is family-friendly and free to attend—just bring your love of music and maybe a blanket or lawn chair if you plan to lounge outdoors. Wine will be available for purchase by the glass or bottle, and you're welcome to bring your own snacks or pick something up from a nearby eatery on the island.

So if you’re looking to ease into Sunday with heartfelt melodies and a glass of something delicious, make your way to the winery and let JT Underwood provide the soundtrack to your afternoon.
