Spring is coming, the clocks have sprung forward giving us lighter evenings and it’s time to embrace this new season on Bainbridge Island. Start by discovering the natural beauty that is Bainbridge Island by signing up for one of Bainbridge Gardens’ Spring Events or Classes. Bainbridge Gardens is a family-owned garden center located on a historic site and their events encourage you to learn how to become more self-sufficient in growing your own vegetables and maintaining a healthy garden. IslandWood is an environmental education non-profit, inspiring the next generation of environmental stewards; they are excited to launch their 2023 quarterly Dinner Series, starting with their March Dinner. The event begins with an optional docent-led walk through the IslandWood Trails and is followed by a delicious dinner accompanied by wine, beer and live music. To fill one of those Spring rainy days, book to see Bainbridge Performing Arts’ latest production The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time: for mature audiences, this is a thrilling, illuminating, and ultimately uplifting adventure story. This play runs for multiple days and times through March at Bainbridge Cinemas (the temporary location for performances until the new Performing Arts Theater opens later this year).

Plant What You Eat At Bainbridge Gardens
A night of indulgence on the farm. Heyday Farm will be returning to their lively Community Seating for this event, so gather some friends and have a night to remember!
Brian MacWhorter of Butler Green Farms on Bainbridge Island offers tips and advice on how to get the most out of your organic vegetable garden. Participants will receive 20% off plant purchases, valid only on the day of class. This class is free, but seating is limited, so make a reservation soon.
In 2018, Bainbridge Gardens celebrated its 60th year in business on Bainbridge Island. Junkoh and Chris Harui started Town and Country Florist in a 900 sqft space next to Town and Country Market in Winslow in 1958. Bainbridge Gardens is a family-owned garden center located on a historic site on beautiful Bainbridge Island. The six-acre nursery is well-stocked with large trees, native plants, unusual varieties of shrubs, bonsai, seasonal color, pots and garden art. They also have one of the best selections of houseplants in the area. With plenty of parking and an extensive gift shop, Bainbridge Gardens is a popular spot for Islanders and out-of-town guests.

As this class is free, reserve your spot soon! Pre-registration is required. You may register by phone by calling 206-842-5888 or in person at Bainbridge Gardens. Class space is limited.
Please check in at the main desk on the day of class.
All classes will be held in the Northwest Greenhouse, which is covered, but not heated. In addition the doors will be open to improve ventilation. Please dress appropriately
Masks may be required to attend certain classes.

Dine & Discover - An IslandWood Dinner Series
The Dine & Discover series returns with an optional docent-led hike through the IslandWood trails, followed by a scrumptious three-course meal, and wine & beer pairings.
Dinner will be prepared by Chef Jim White and his team, who are passionate about bringing sustainably sourced foods and thoughtful dining experiences to students and adults alike. The meals are inspired by the seasons, featuring locally sourced ingredients as much as possible. Because of this, the menu is designed just days prior to the event. IslandWood is an environmental education nonprofit. They offer a variety of immersive programs throughout the Seattle region to help children, educators, and community members deepen their understanding of the world around them, explore important environmental issues, and see the power they have to make a positive impact on their communities and the planet.
Their programs – ranging from several days to several hours to several months – are designed to meet the different needs of the communities.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time
Based on the best-selling novel by Mark Haddon, adapted by Simon Stephens. See the world through Christopher’s eyes as he embarks on an extraordinary journey where he challenges assumed truths and discovers life-changing secrets. A thrilling, illuminating, and ultimately uplifting adventure story for everyone in attendance.
Bainbridge Performing Arts is pleased to offer an “Open Doors” program. Free and reduced-cost tickets to most events are available to community members in need through their partner Helpline House thanks to a grant from BCF Discretionary Grant Fund, BCF Community Grant Cycle Partners, Plan B Fund, Sada Ross Fund, Debbie & Tom Kuffel, David & Kathleen Thorne, Brigette & Jeremy Yates, and the Mabee Family Foundation.
Bainbridge Performing Arts are currently using the Bainbridge Cinema Pavilion location until their new building is completed.
