Everything You Need to Know About Taking the Bainbridge Ferry
The Bainbridge Island Ferry is a vital transportation link for commuters, families, and visitors alike, connecting Bainbridge Island to downtown Seattle via Eagle Harbor to Colman Dock. Whether you're commuting daily, attending events, or traveling to the airport, here's what you need to know about using the ferry efficiently.
Retirement on Bainbridge Island
Bainbridge Island was named The Nantucket of the Pacific Northwest by Vogue magazine in 2016 and described as having an “elegant island vibe (more nautical stripes than surfer shorts)”. It’s a residential gateway for families and retirees alike. Lined with glorious views, mom-and-pop shops, and plentiful community and cultural events, Bainbridge has a small-town feel while maintaining access to important services like health care. For those looking to spend their golden years in a vibrant and active community while surrounded by natural beauty, Bainbridge holds a number of promising opportunities and checks most of the important boxes.
What Is a Waterfront Property?
Bainbridge Island communities often include beach access right from your backyard. This post will guide you through what you need to know before purchasing a waterfront home on Bainbridge Island, top neighborhoods for the best waterfront views and access, along with other helpful information including resources on how to acquire a dock and how to get mooring buoys for free. This is by no means a complete list, but something to get you started on your search.
Traffic On Bainbridge Island
One of the true joys of living on Bainbridge is the general lack of traffic. Most of the time you can consistently rely on the standard “10-15 minutes to get anywhere” rule. Traffic is generally reliable and COBI does a nice job of texting out and alerting you of any new developments (accidents, trees down). That said, the island is not without its spots and it can be helpful to learn them and plan around them. The most significant area is definitely 305, though there are also a couple of other sites that are worth noting.
The Bainbridge Island Guide to Trick or Treating
Given its overall family-friendly attitude, it is not shocking that Bainbridge is a great place to go trick or treating for kids of all ages. Fortunately, the weather usually obliges and provides a wonderful evening of yums and boos and an opportunity for the kids to go out, see some friends and amass the biggest stash of treats that they can. But it can require a little planning in advance as many parts of the island are “lights off” on that night. To cut to the chase, trick or treating on Bainbridge Island can be broken down into 1) Winslow and 2) island neighborhoods.
