There’s nothing quite like summer on Bainbridge Island. From sun-dappled hikes and waterfront sunsets to bustling community events, this quiet gem in the Puget Sound comes alive during the warmer months. Whether you’re a longtime resident, a weekend visitor, or simply exploring the island for the first time, this is a place where small-town charm meets big community energy—especially when it comes to local events.

This week, the island is buzzing with a trio of standout happenings that capture the heart and soul of Bainbridge: live music in the park, a massive community rummage sale, and a vibrant Saturday farmers market. Each event offers a different slice of island life—whether you’re looking to dance under the stars, treasure hunt for a cause, or fill your tote with fresh local produce.

First up is the return of Terry’s Sounds of Summer, a free concert series held every Wednesday evening at Battle Point Park. It’s a beloved tradition that brings together neighbors, families, and music lovers for eight weeks of live performances by talented regional bands. With food vendors on-site, plenty of green space to spread out, and a family-friendly vibe, it’s the perfect midweek escape.

Then, mark your calendar for Saturday, July 6, when the Rotary Auction & Rummage Sale takes over Woodward Middle School for one epic day of secondhand shopping. Organized by the Rotary Club of Bainbridge Island and powered by over 2,000 volunteers, this legendary event offers more than 30 departments of donated goods—everything from tools and books to furniture, art, and outdoor gear. The best part? Proceeds go straight back into the community through grants, scholarships, and service projects.

Finally, no Bainbridge weekend is complete without a trip to the Farmers Market. Held every Saturday from 10 AM to 2 PM in Town Square by City Hall, the market showcases the best of local agriculture, food, and craftsmanship. Grab a pastry, listen to live music, and browse stalls filled with fresh produce, flowers, handmade goods, and more. It’s the kind of place where you can slow down, connect with your neighbors, and get a real taste of the island’s creative and sustainable spirit.

Whether you're a music fan, a bargain hunter, or a local food lover, this week offers a little something for everyone. So grab your friends, bring your tote bags, and get ready to experience the events that make Bainbridge Island truly shine in the summertime.

2025 Rotary Auction & Rummage Sale

If you’re on Bainbridge Island this week, one event you absolutely can’t miss is the legendary Rotary Auction & Rummage Sale—a true island tradition that turns treasure hunting into community impact.

Every summer, the Rotary Club of Bainbridge Island, with the help of over 2,000 local volunteers, transforms Woodward Middle School into a massive secondhand shopping destination. For one day only—Saturday, July 6—shoppers can explore 30+ departments set up across classrooms, parking lots, athletic fields, and giant tents, packed with everything from furniture and books to toys, tools, clothing, electronics, home goods, and more.

It’s not just a sale—it’s an experience. And it’s for a good cause.

The event begins earlier in the week with drive-through donation days, when community members drop off gently used items. From there, volunteers get to work—sorting, cleaning, testing, pricing, and organizing everything with astonishing speed and care. By sale day, the campus is a fully functional mega thrift operation, ready for eager crowds searching for deals, rare finds, or just a fun way to spend a Saturday.

The best part? Every dollar raised goes directly back into the community. Proceeds from the sale fund local Rotary grants, community service projects, student scholarships, and global humanitarian efforts. Whether you donate, shop, or volunteer, you’re supporting something much bigger than a bargain.
