Teens with a passion for creativity, this one’s for you! On Saturday, April 5, 2025, from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM, Bainbridge Island Museum of Art (BIMA) invites young artists to explore a unique blend of poetry and visual storytelling at Teen Art Saturdays: Haiku Comics.
Designed for students in grades 7-12, this free monthly event provides a welcoming space for teens to experiment with different artistic mediums, learn new techniques, and connect with fellow young creatives. Led by a BIMA Educator, each session introduces an exciting hands-on project that encourages artistic exploration in a fun and supportive environment.
In celebration of National Poetry Month, April’s session will focus on Haiku Comics, an innovative fusion of traditional Japanese poetry and sequential art. Participants will learn how to craft three-line haikus, then bring their words to life through illustration, panel design, and visual storytelling techniques. Whether you’re an experienced artist or just starting out, this workshop is a great opportunity to experiment with creative expression through both words and images.
