This week is dedicated to all Mothers! Mother's Day is Sunday May 14 but why not celebrate Mothers all week? Venture out to the City with the whole family for Shrek 2 in Concert with Seattle Symphony at Benaroya Hall - choose from various times on Thursday, Friday or Saturday. Bainbridge Island celebrates "Wine on the Rock” so treat yourself or your mom to Wine & Cheese at four participating Wineries on Friday thru’ Sunday. For the finale, have Brunch on Mother’s Day at Islandwood after enjoying learning about Nature’s Nurturers: a Celebration of Mothers.

Shrek 2 in Concert with Seattle Symphony

With perfect family fun for kids of all ages, Shrek 2 in Concert will make all your musical fairytales come true! See Shrek 2 projected on the big screen, accompanied by the Seattle Symphony live in the concert hall performing the enchanting orchestral score by acclaimed composer Harry Gregson-Williams.

In the hit sequel in this beloved franchise, Shrek and Princess Fiona return from their honeymoon to find an invitation to visit Fiona’s parents, the King and Queen of the Kingdom of Far, Far Away. This catapults Shrek into facing his greatest challenge: the in-laws.

Little do Shrek and Fiona know that their marriage foiled the King’s plans for his daughter’s future … and his own. Now he must enlist the help of a powerful Fairy Godmother, the handsome Prince Charming and the famed ogre killer Puss In Boots to put right his own version of ‘happily ever after.’

CONDUCTOR - Nicholas Buc is a composer, conductor, arranger, violinist and pianist. He studied Composition with Brenton Broadstock and Dr. Stuart Greenbaum at the University of Melbourne, where he received the inaugural Fellowship of Australian Composers Award. As the recipient of the Brian May Scholarship for Australian film composers, he completed a Master’s degree in Scoring for Film and Multimedia at New York University, studying with Ira Newborn and Paul Chihara as well as receiving the Elmer Bernstein Award for Film Scoring.

The Seattle Symphony unleashes the power of music, brings people together and lifts the human spirit. Recognized as one of the “most vital American orchestras” (NPR), the Seattle Symphony is internationally acclaimed for its inventive programming, community-minded initiatives and superb recordings on the Seattle Symphony Media label. With a strong commitment to new music and a legacy of over 150 recordings, the orchestra has garnered five Grammy Awards, 26 Grammy nominations, two Emmy Awards and was named Gramophone’s 2018 Orchestra of the Year. The Symphony performs in Benaroya Hall in the heart of downtown Seattle from September through July, reaching over 500,000 people annually through live performances and radio broadcasts.

Wine on the Rock: Wine and Cheese

Wine and cheese pairings at four Bainbridge Island wineries!

Visit Bainbridge Island and explore four artisan wineries for a weekend of wine and cheese pairings. Celebrate Mother's Day or just a weekend away with Bainbridge wineries!

Each ticket is good for one wine flight, plus cheese at each of the four participating Bainbridge Island wineries, plus a special event wine glass.

We would like to encourage you to make a weekend of it and book a night or two and explore all the island has to offer.

Know before you go:

All Access pass lets you visit any of the four wineries Thursday-Sunday. With the Beat the Crowd pass, you're able to visit the four wineries Thursday, Friday or Sunday only. Saturday is the busiest day, so this ticket avoids the Saturday crowds. 

When you purchase your ticket, you will select which of the four wineries you'd like to start at. Check into this starting winery and taste anytime you'd like. Taste all in one day or space it out over the event weekend.

Nature's Nurturers: A Celebration of Mothers

Baroque violin virtuoso, Tekla Cunningham, is accompanied by harpsichord and cello in a rare performance of Heinrich Biber's astonishingly powerful and deeply moving Mystery Sonatas - The Joyful Mysteries. This event is part of First Sunday’s Concerts in Bainbridge.

Know before you go: 

There will be a brunch window from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM. You may arrive at the start at 10:00 AM, or anytime within that window to enjoy a mother’s day smorgasbord.

You can also arrive at 9:30 AM, pick up a frisbee, or kick a ball in our large meadows, and run off some energy with the littles ones, and then just come in when you’re hungry. Just remember – brunch will close down at 12:00 PM, so give yourself & your ducklings enough time to enjoy a leisurely meal.

The menu includes a selection of fresh and seasonal bites along with tea, coffee, fresh fruit juices and Mama’s Mimosas. Cheers to you!
