Halloween is here! Some may be going trick-or-treating on this eerie night with their kiddos and others may be partying it up with drinks that are spookier than their own costumes. Downtown merchants welcome all ghosts and goblins, witches and warlocks, Elevens and Dustins to ramble Winslow Way in search of tasty treats, spooky tunes and thrilling mobs! Complimentary hot apple cider will be sponsored by Town & Country as well as chili and hot dogs at Eagle Harbor Church for a UNICEF donation. Don't forget to look for your favorite teacher scooping at Island Cool. DJ Sidecar (sponsored by Cook Family Funeral Home) will be spinning tunes near Winslow Mall. Winslow Way between Ericksen and Madison will be closed to through traffic from 3:00 to 7:00 pm.

Know Before You Go:
What is a LitCrawl?
For those of you who have not participated in a LitCrawl before, it is what it sounds like (well kinda – there should be no crawling during the event): a progressive party moving from one venue to the next, with readings by fabulous, talented, published authors at each stop while you sip libations, nibble noshes and generally look fabulous in the bespoke fall outfit you purchased just for the event.
The LitCrawl will conclude with a blow-out party at Eagle Harbor Book Co. where you can rub shoulders with all the amazing authors who will be presenting during the evening. Eagle Harbor Book Co's own Tycoon and Tycooness, Dave and Jane Danielson will be on hand to greet the guests - and ensure our eager attendees don't destroy the place - and Eagle Harbor Book Co's own book buyers, book sellers, events managers, and part-time employees will be available to assist you in purchasing any of our participating authors' fabulous works - all the while complimenting you appropriately on your outfit. Shop Dog Emeritus, Sergio, will also make a cameo appearance and accept treats. Please, he is not signing autographs this evening.
So People, get busy! You Have Just A Short Time to Prepare Yourself For This Auspicious Event and there's lots you must accomplish!
Your Preparatory Tasks
First Task: Look up the word 'auspicious' to ensure I've spelled it properly. I can't excel at everything.
Second Task: Mark your calendars in red crayon for THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 2, 2023 @5:30 p.m.
Third Task: Go out and buy that expensive new fall outfit you've been dreaming about. You never know when the paparazzi will pop out of a bush and you need to be dressed in a fetching frock if you want to maintain your reputation.
Fourth Task: Enter the "Zone of Excitement and Anticipation" by reading all the details below, including our roster of talented and good looking authors.
Fifth Task: Attend the LitCrawl!
The Details
Here is the tentative schedule and venues:
1. 5:30-6:00: Town & Country Market, ground floor meeting space behind the growler station.
Town & Country Market, purveyors of all things delicious and partners in the Bainbridge Island Poet Laureate program, will open the show. After a few, brief remarks about just how fabulous we all are, authors Kevin O'Brien, Jennifer Longo and Martha Silano will knock your socks off with readings from their recent works. Feel free to get a bit of grocery shopping done in between authors.
2. 6:15-6:45: Realogics Sotheby's International Realty - This realty company has the best houses for sale and routinely serves the best snacks at the First Friday Art Walk. Authors, Erica Bauermeister, Rafe Posey and Poet Erin Malone will thrill you with their readings. While there, put down a deposit on that 75 room waterfront bungalow you've had your eye on.
4. 7:00-7:30: Bainbridge Arts & Crafts - Another laudatory Bainbridge Island institution when it comes to providing superior quality snacks at local events. We saved some truly electrifying authors at this stop to draw your attention away from the amazing art displayed, so Mathew Inman, Garth Stein and Carol Cassella will be reading. Try not to be blown away. Arts & Crafts staff will be happy to carefully wrap your artistic purchases made at the event.
5. 7:30-8:30: Eagle Harbor Book Co. Dave and Jane Danielson, Longtime Bainbridge Island residents and the most benevolent of employers - just ask them - welcome you to the iconic Eagle Harbor Book Co. Bainbridge Island's own Poet Laureate - the famed, the fabulous, the formidable Michele Bombardier reads from her work. She's electrifying folks, listen and be in awe. Afterward, she will have a few pretty important things to say about independent bookstores in general and Eagle Harbor Book Co. in particular. Then, finally, the overly qualified staff of Eagle Harbor Book Co. take over. They will regale you with charming bookstore anecdotes and compliment you expertly on your outfit all the while encouraging you - yes you - to go up and say hello to Mathew Inman. Meet all the authors. Insist that they inscribe the book of theirs you just purchased. Show the world your latest dance moves. It's a party, misbehave appropriately.
