Lavender Lemonade Spritzer
May is the month where the sunny moments make everyone pause and appreciate the raw accomplishment of grinding through the winter successfully. I for one thought this one was particularly long and dark… so now that we are making the turn, I am awfully excited to spend time on the porch and in the garden.
Ingredients:
Lemonade (I like the Simply brand)- 4 oz
Vodka - 1 oz
Lavender simple syrup (below) 1/2 oz
Prosecco - 2 oz
Lemons and/or edible flowers for garnish. Candied lemon slices add a little bit extra
Lavender Simple Syrup 1 cup of water, 1 cup of sugar and 2 tbls of culinary lavender
Directions:
In a small saucepan, combine water and granulated sugar.
Bring to a boil, stirring to dissolve the sugar.
Once the sugar is dissolved, remove from heat and add the dried lavender buds.
Let it steep for about 15-20 minutes, then strain the syrup into a clean jar to remove the lavender buds. Allow the syrup to cool.
Shake: Add vodka, lemonade and lavender syrup to shaker with a few ice cubes. Shake vigorously until totally combined. Place the strainer on top and pour over a glass of ice.
Add bubbles: Top with Prosecco or sparkling water
Garnish: add lemon slices and/or edible flowers
