October 2022 Top 3
October is upon us! We are celebrating perhaps the warmest October yet-- which is so welcome in many ways after the late summer we had... but I know my garden is crying out for some rain!
Here is a round up of some items I found utterly delightful this month.
1. Gallup Emotions Poll: Some records were meant to be broken…but not this one. Gallup released their 2022 Global Emotions Report this summer. Based on tens of thousands of interviews conducted in 122 countries, negative emotions have hit a new high across the globe. Data shows that the aggregate of stress, sadness, anger, worry, and physical pain people feel every day is higher than ever before in the history of Gallup’s tracking. Recovery from the pandemic, global conflict, and economic challenges have left so many impacted. Everywhere we turn these days, fear and frustration never feel too far away. How should we respond to record-breaking levels of negativity? I think it all starts with empathy. The truth is that you never really know what someone else is going through. 2. The Midnight Club SOUNDTRACK. So, I'll admit, I haven't actually watched this series, but I DID read Christopher Pike in the 90's and I DEFINITELY have core high school memories set to this soundtrack. I stumbled up on this spotify list based on a friend recommendation. I'm all for diving into a playlist that spans Hootie, En Vogue and the Pixies while I search for the rubbermaid that contains my CD collections... More HERE
3. Proud Minnesotan over here.... but Lizzo! Girl is having a moment-- Deirdre and I've been working through Watch Out For The Big Grrrls on Prime and although it may be a bit mature for a pre-teen, you certainly can't deny the body empowerment message this woman is spreading.
