Fine Dining on Bainbridge Island

It is fair to say that Bainbridge has never been known as a foodie hotspot.  That said, the number and quality of good options continues to increase and there are many great options out there if you are looking for delicious food and a great night out with family or friends.  While most places remain located in Winslow for the increased tourist traffic, there are a number of fantastic options around the island.  Here are just a few of my favorites:

Agate Restaurant

Agate Restaurant at 500 Winslow Way East Suite 170.  Located adjacent to the ferry terminal and tucked behind Fletcher Bay Winery Tasting Room and the Bainbridge Brewing Alehouse, this is a great option if you are looking for a more upscale meal.  Their seasonal menu varies but typically consists of inventive (and delightful) takes on seafood, soups, salads, and steaks.  While some of me misses the coziness of their prior location up in Suquamish, the current location is gorgeous and the food remains excellent.

Ba Sa

Basa at 101 Winslow Way E. This newer addition to the scene is located at the west end of Winslow Way and has bought in some much needed (and enjoyed) Asian fusion to the Bainbridge upscale scene.  The ambiance is quaint and each meal feels like an artisanal treat.  This establishment also has some of the best cocktails on the island.  This is a go-to spot for a special lunch with girlfriends or a great dinner out with small groups.

Bruciato

Bruciato at 236 Winslow Way E. First of all, I am all for the trend of wood fire pizza restaurants, but to call Bruciato a wood fire pizza restaurant is to do it a disservice.  It's a wood fire pizza heaven.  Located right in the heart of Winslow this modern industrial restaurant has won numerous prizes in the Seattle area for its pizza, homemade pasta, and delicious salads, including critics’ choice 10 best new Seattle area restaurants.  Because of its central location, the wait can be a bit on heavy tourist days, so plan appropriately.

Hey Day Farm

4370 Old Mill Rd NE.  Off the beaten path but oh so worth it. Indeed, the rustic setting is a large part of the appeal as you enjoy creative, sustainable and locally sourced meals in either their quaint indoor seating or gorgeous patio.  They are only open on Thursdays and Fridays, so call ahead and make reservations. You will be happy that you did.

Hitchcock

Hitchcock at 133 Winslow Way E Suite 100, located just before Basa, is an authentic European-inspired eatery. It is the perfect place to enjoy a candlelight dinner or a crafted cocktail after a stressful day. They offer an assortment of tasty American food as well, including oysters and pasta. On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights, the chef offers a tasting menu. They are known for making their own pasta, charcuterie and fresh cheeses. So good!

Manor House

The Manor House at 4611 NE, Woodson Ln NE is an elegant establishment known as one of Bainbridge Island's favorite locales. Though known mainly for hosting weddings, the restaurant is a great place to get together with family for a more upscale dinner. Looking over Lynwood the restaurant has amazing views of Pleasant Beach as well as a large outdoor seating area to enjoy the summer months and the wonderful sunsets.

Restaurant Marché

Marché at 150 Madrone Ln N puts together delightful contemporary American dishes relying on local produce, seafood, and meats.  It is a frequent date night destination for us and my kids think they have the best french fries on the island.  But to be honest, it is probably best enjoyed with one of their great cocktails and sans les enfants.
